Not sure what a chord is? This interactive Chord Detector is designed to help you, the musician, identify chords by clicking on the keys on this piano keyboard.
Here's what it does:
- Interactive Virtual Piano: It presents a two-octave virtual piano keyboard. You simply click or tap the keys to select notes.
- Real-time Note Display: As you select notes, the "Notes Played" section updates to show you the individual notes you've currently pressed.
- Comprehensive Chord Recognition: The core feature is its ability to detect a wide range of chords, including:
- Basic Triads (Major, Minor, Augmented, Diminished)
- Suspended Chords (sus2, sus4)
- Sixth Chords (Major 6, Minor 6)
- Seventh Chords (Major 7, Dominant 7, Minor 7, Half-Diminished 7, Diminished 7)
- Added Note Chords (Add9, MinAdd9)
- Ninth Chords (Major 9, Dominant 9, Minor 9, Dominant 7(♭9), Dominant 7(#9))
- Eleventh Chords (11th, Major 11, Minor 11)
- Power Chords (5th)
- Multiple Interpretations: If a set of notes can be interpreted as more than one chord (e.g., Cmaj6 and Amin7), the tool will display all possible valid chord names.
- Clear and Reset Functionality: A "Clear Notes" button allows you to quickly reset the keyboard and start over.
