The Accelerator
Twelve weeks of one-to-one mentoring to write licensable, modern trailer music.
- Intermediate
You’ve bought the courses. You’ve watched the tutorials. And you still feel like you’re shooting in the dark.
Maybe your music sounds too much like a score and not enough like a trailer. Maybe synths, drums and sound design still scare you a bit. Maybe you procrastinate because there’s no deadline, or you’re not sure how to submit music, which libraries are worth it, or how you even get paid. Most of all, there’s that nagging voice asking whether what you’re doing is right.
The Accelerator is 12 weeks of personal, direct mentoring with me. It isn’t another pre-recorded course. Every week we have a one-to-one call, and every week I give you video feedback on your track, inside Logic, showing you what to change and how.
Your programme is built around you: what you want to learn, your level, and what you want to get out of it. You’ll get honest feedback (people ask for brutal, and they get it), a lot of music finished in a short time, and the business side too. Pitching, libraries and relationships.
Spaces are limited so everyone gets proper attention. Join the waitlist and you’ll be first in line for the next intake.
By the end, you’ll be able to
- Know exactly what to work on next, so you focus on the details rather than the basics
- Get better mixes and sound design, with drums that stand out and synths that don't scare you
- Build a portfolio of licensable tracks you're proud of
- Work faster, make the right choices and finish more sellable music
- Understand what libraries want, how to submit music and how to find the right ones
What composers say
One of the best music learning experiences I've had that exceeded all expectations of what I could accomplish as a composer in 3 months... You won't find a better opportunity than this to become a better trailer and production composer, so what are you waiting for!
It's one thing to learn from a trailer music course, it's another to learn from the master himself. This is personalized music teaching of the highest quality.
...I believe you need mostly 3 things to really improve: 1) a mentor that is writing modern trailer music and getting current placements. 2) Constant feedback on your tracks... 3) someone that knows how to communicate and is good at teaching. Most people seem to have only 1 or 2 of these points but Rich has all 3!
...building not only my confidence as a composer but also my trailer music portfolio into something I'm very proud of... I definitely grew as a trailer music composer. The mentorship really fast tracked my learning...
As music composers, It’s easy to fall into self-doubt when learning music on your own, especially through traditional online resources. What made this mentorship different was having consistent, real-time, goal-oriented feedback from someone who truly knows both the creative and business sides of being a composer... This mentorship felt human. And that makes all the difference.
How it works
- 12 weekly one-to-one calls
30-minute Zoom calls with me, booked at a time that suits you. Each call is built around the goals we set at the start, and keeps you accountable.
- 12 weeks of video feedback
I load your track into Logic and give you detailed feedback in real time via a Loom video, sometimes showing you exactly what to change and how. One of the most popular parts of the mentorship.
- Direct access to me
A private community with the other mentees, where you can message me with specific questions between calls.
- 3 group calls
A monthly group call for common questions, so your one-to-one time goes on your specific goals.
- All of my courses
Lifetime access to every course I've made, covering trailer music, music for ads and production music.
This is for you if…
- You've bought the courses and watched the tutorials, but still feel like you're taking baby steps
- Your music sounds "too much like a score" rather than a trailer cue
- You procrastinate without deadlines or a clear roadmap
- You want specific, honest guidance from someone getting current placements
It’s not for you if…
- You're looking for generic motivation rather than direct, honest feedback
- You can't commit to writing and submitting music every week for 12 weeks
- You can't yet deliver a reasonably balanced mix (it doesn't need to be pro level)
Who’s teaching
I’ve written music for ads since 2007 and movie trailers since 2011, and went full time in 2014. My music has been used on over 100 campaigns, including Captain America: Civil War, Glass Onion, WandaVision and The Conjuring 2, and I’ve won eight awards along the way. Since 2017 I’ve taught thousands of composers how to do the same. More about me.

Questions
How does the waitlist work?
Join the waitlist and you'll be first to hear when the next intake opens. You'll get emails from me about booking a discovery call, so we can check the mentorship is the right fit for you.
How long is the mentorship?
12 weeks from start to finish. Each week you get a 30-minute one-to-one call with me and pro feedback on your music by video.
How much does it cost?
$3,500, or three payments of $1,250. A $500 deposit secures your place.
Do I need to be able to use a DAW?
Yes. You'll be producing music throughout the mentorship. Any DAW is fine, as long as you know how to use it.
How much music theory do I need to know?
Very little. You'll be at an advantage if you can harmonise the major and minor scales, but that's about it.
Do I have to know how to mix and master?
You need to be able to deliver a good, balanced mix. It doesn't need to be pro level (mine certainly isn't), and you don't need to master your music.
Can you guarantee I will get a placement?
Of course not. The mentees who get work are the ones who put the hours in, stay positive and focus on their goals. They also happen to be very nice people (industry secret).
How long do I keep the courses?
For life, including all future updates and new lessons.
