Before we went away, I sent out the newsletter informing you of my decision to start a royalty-free music library and the response has been so unbelievably positive.
As I mentioned it has been one of those things I have wanted to start over and over again but got too scared. I have on two occasions purchased domains, built websites and published music only to take it all down because I thought I was wasting my time.
Now, having opened up to you about this and gotten nothing but encouragement I feel absolutely sure that it is the right thing for me to do now.
As you know I believe deeply in being of service to others and acknowledging the work we do as composers as a vital part of this.
So when I think of this library it excites me to think that someone might find my music and use it on a piece of content that they are creating.
The next step for Cinemalism is to publish the albums one at a time. For each track on the album create a YouTube video and fan link (using ToneDen probably), then add the tracks to relevant Disco playlists and blog posts.
I know there is a lot of work ahead but I think the feeling of honouring my work and of potentially being of service to other content creators makes it all worth it.
I just wanted to take this week to say Thank You to all of you for your kind words of encouragement - it means the world to me!

🎧 I’m Listening To…
One of my awesome readers Minko Kalsbeek recommended I check out the music of Tony Anderson last week and I have been mesmerised from the first note. Beautiful, delicate and brimming with subtle nuances.
📚 I’m Reading...
Without Fail by Lee Child. As you may know, I am a huge fan of the Jack Reacher franchise. I have recently started using my Kindle for our family holiday in France and I immediately downloaded a Jack Reacher book for the trip. Set around the potential assassination of the Vice President-Elect, this story is as gripping a fist-punching-in-the-air awesome as the rest.
📺 I’m Watching...
I was a little hesitant to start watching the Bridgerton series, Queen Charlotte as I was never that enamoured with her character. "Oh yea of little faith" as I forgot how important a good backstory is to a character and already her backstory has put her character in a whole new light. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is light and easy to watch, plus the music is AWESOME!
🔥 I’m Still Loving...
For a few years now I have been watching Dave Hilowitz on YouTube. As the years have progressed he has found his storytelling and filmmaking stride and all his videos fill me with excitement for all things sound.
🫶🏻 Sharing is Caring
One of my students, Dennis DeLaat (another accomplished musician/producer) has created this amazing tool called Rewind. To sum it up, it's an amazing piece of software that records whatever you are doing, whether it's noodling on a piano, playing with synths, or even watching YouTube. If you then realise you noodled the most amazing idea you can go to Rewind and export the recording. Pretty cool. I wish I had had this years ago.
In Dennis' words, "It is the ultimate black box for your studio AND it allows you to sample from Spotify and YouTube for instance with the click of a button!"
❝ Quote of the week:
"Your conflicts, all the difficult things, the problematic situations in your life are not chance or haphazard. They are actually yours. They are specifically yours, designed specifically for you by a part of you that loves you more than anything else. The part of you that loves you more than anything else has created roadblocks to lead you to yourself. You are not going in the right direction unless there is something pricking you in the side, telling you, “Look here! This way!” That part of you loves you so much that it doesn’t want you to lose the chance. It will go to extreme measures to wake you up, it will make you suffer greatly if you don’t listen. What else can it do? That is its purpose." ― A.H. Almaas
